Synopsis / Sinopsis

Adakale was a small island on the Danube, an enclave of the Turkish community living in Romania. In the 1970’s, because of the construction of a dam, the island was flooded, and its inhabitans, relocated. With this film, the story of Adakale is being translated in cinema language for the first time. The author has thoroughly searched through archive documents and memories and souvenirs of former inhabitants, to produce this beautiful documentary about home and homesikness.

Ada Kaleh, mica insulă de pe Dunăre care era o adevărată enclavă a comunităţii turce din România, a dispărut în anii 1970’. Lacul de acumulare al unui baraj a acoperit insula, iar locuitorii au fost strămutaţi. Acest film este prima transpunere în limbaj cinematografic a istoriei şi poveştilor insulei Ada Kaleh. Este rezultatul unei documentări amănunţite, în timpul căreia autorul filmului a cercetat documente de arhivă şi a cules amintirile foştilor locuitori ai insulei Ada Kaleh. Un documentar despre ceea ce înseamnp „acasă” şi „dor de casă”.
