Synopsis / Sinopsis
Copsa Mica is known for decades as the most polluted town in the European Union. The ideal location for heavy industry during Ceausescu’s time, Copsa Mica is still bearing the traces of unhealed wounds. The film focuses on the main characters in 2003 and in 2007, before and after the EU accession, before and after the local elections. The main character, Daniel “Dudu” Tudor Mihalache is getting ready to run for mayor. People like him for his honesty: gone are the times when everybody expected something from the state, now we have to do things ourselves. Of thrifty nature, he manages a shop and a restaurant and builds his own house. We find him in 2007, in the mayor’s seat, and his house finished. The town enlivens: buildings are renovated, there’s a safeguard station and even a beer festival. The main problem is still the industrial plants. “Mayors are helpless in front of private plants on long-term contracts with everyone in Europe.” “Dudu” looks towards 2012 and plans away...
