Synopsis / Sinopsis

When the wave of people that went overseas to work became a tsunami, the mass-media reacted, but only in regard to the children left behind by those who left. They are cute and easier to love. The older people are grumpy, they have unusual habits. Some of them receive money from their children. Few of them. Others eat onions with tomato sauce. “Home Alone” is a collection of six stories, told by the very parents of those who left home to work overseas. The authorities will explain how they had to file legal complaints for bribes against those who tried to buy their parents’ place in a shelter. You will hear a senator tell you about how all the law proposals regarding old people “get stuck somewhere”. But at the same time, have a look at Mrs. Ana because she would like to tell you how much she wants to get better after her surgery. Her son bought her a plane ticket to Lisbon.

Când valul plecărilor la muncă peste hotare a devenit tsunami, mass-media a avut o tresărire, dar era numai pentru copiii celor plecaţi. Sunt mai drăgălaşi şi mai uşor de iubit. Bătrânii…. Bătrânii sunt ursuzi, au tabieturi. Unii primesc bani de la copiii lor. Puţini. Alţii mănâncă doar ceapă, cu ulei şi bulion. “Singur acasă” e o colecţie de şase poveşti, spuse la persoana întâi pentru a-i lăsa pe părinţii celor plecaţi la muncă în străinătate să-şi spună păsurile, să explice autorităţile cum au făcut dosare penale pentru dare de mită celor care au încercat să-şi liniştească conştiinţa, aruncându-i pe bătrâni într-un azil. Să vă spună un senator cum propunerile legislative privind persoanele vârstnice „se împotmolesc undeva”. Dar în acelaşi timp, să vă uitaţi la doamna Ana pentru că ar vrea să vă spună cât de mult şi doreşte să se facă bine după operaţie. Fiul ei i-a luat bilet de avion spre Lisabona.
