Synopsis / Sinopsis
August the 5th, 1990. Two girls from the village of Litmanová in North-East Slovakia, Ivetka (11) and Katka (12) had a vision: The Holy Virgin appeared in a wooden cottage up in the mountain. The visions kept coming constantly for the following five years, a fact that turned their village into a pilgrimage destination for thousands of Orthodox Christians, in spite of the fact that the Church never took an official position in this matter. Today, Katka is a married woman and leads a housewife’s ordinary life. Ivetka, on the other hand, still claims to be in touch with divinity, even if she hasn’t had any more visions of the Virgin. After spending many years in a convent, and after a suicide attempt, she is still not at peace. The author challenges Ivetka to pursue her lost gift. Archive footage, interviews with the young girl’s relatives, fellow-villagers, and ocasional pylgrims, help us understand the impact of such an experience.
5 august 1990.
