Synopsis / Sinopsis
Dado was born and spent his childhood in a peaceful village in Croatia. When the war, which was to put an end to Yugoslavia, started, his family had to move to Belgrade. During his teenage years, his mother went to work in Germany, followed shortly by his father. The children were left to take care of themselves. Dado is one of the many confused young Serbians, who grew up with neither parents nor models to pursue, except the false heroes of the war (either military or politicians). Dado dreams to become a professional actor, same as his father once dreamed, while others take refuge in music (classical or hip-hop), patriotism and revolt or religion. Through these characters, Thom Vander Beken makes a portrait of a generation going astray, that has to part with the past in order to enjoy the future. At the same time, the author aims to find the values and heroes of the present-day Serb youth.
