Synopsis / Sinopsis

The industrial town Nowa Huta, „The New Foundry”, another failure of communism, was built near the city of Krakow for no other reasons that the ideological ones, because from the economical point of view, the location was totally inappropriate. This started becoming obvious in the 1980’s, and the crisis got worse eversince. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin wall, the author wants to find out how people live in Nowa Huta, what their dreams are, and what has become of them.

Oraşul metalurgic Nowa Huta, un alt eşec al comunismului, a fost plasat în apropierea Cracoviei din motive pur ideologice. Din punct de verere economic, locul era total nepotrivit. Efectele proastei aşezări au început să se facă simţite încă din anii ’80, iar de atunci situaţia a continuat să se agraveze. După douăzeci de ani de la căderea Zidului Berlinului, autorul documentarului vrea să afle despre oamenii din Nowa Huta cum trăiesc, la ce aspiră şi ce speranţe au să-şi vadă visurile împlinite.
