Synopsis / Sinopsis

Old Ilonka lives in a small village on the outskirts of Magyarkanizsa, called by the locals “Mosquito village”. Even at her age of 80, she still works alone in the household. The says that, beyond the age of 60, every year of life is a gift. The events in her monotonous life are the corn harvest, the collecting of the eggs, the feeding of the cat and dog… The woman goes to town, where she takes care to pay her health insurance, in spite of her retirement money barely sufficing for a living, and she gains some money by selling eggs in the market. In the “Mosquito village” times flows in its own, slow, way, and for old Ilonka all days are alike. However, “No one can ne buried alive”, thus one must live through anyhow. “Until the time will come”. A story about poverty and the dignity of old age.

Bătrâna Illonka trăieşte într-un mic sat de la periferia oraşului Magyarkanizsa, căruia localnicii îi zic „Satul Ţânţarilor”. La cei optzeci de ani ai săi, femeia încă munceşte singură prin gospodărie. Spune că, după vârsta de şaizeci de ani, fiecare an de viaţă în plus este un dar. Evenimentele traiului său monoton sunt culegerea porumbului, adunarea ouălor din cuibare, hrănirea pisicii şi-a câinelui... Femeia merge la oraş, unde se îngrijeşte să îşi plătească asigurarea de sănătate, deşi mica pensie abia de-i ajunge să trăiască, şi îşi completează veniturile vânzând ouă în piaţă. În „Satul Ţânţarilor” timpul curge în ritmul său lent, iar pentru bătrâna Ilonka fiecare zi e la fel cu cealaltă. Dar „Nimeni nu poate fi îngropat de viu”, astfel că zilele trebuie duse aşa cum sunt. „Până când va veni ceasul”. O poveste despre sărăcie şi demnitatea bătrâneţii.
