At the Palais de Tokyo, a major Parisian modern art center, security agents watch over the artworks, and frisk and screen the visitors. What do they notice? What are they thinking? They are all immigrants and persons of color. The slow motion long takes of familiar museum scenes are accompanied by the voice over of the guardians’ own thoughts. This unusual perspective aids the audience to rediscover the museum as a whole, as a cultural institution where access to art is only possible thanks to the faceless, voiceless guardians hailing from the third world.
