A participatory foray in a Cácua community in Columbia that perceptively and mindfully brings to light the invisible wounds left behind by colonialism.
The Cácua descendent director Sergio Guataquira Sarmiento sets out on an informal ethnographic investigation into the causes of the alarming number of suicides among indigenous Columbian populations. Under the guise of a coming-of-age story, the film gradually becomes the arena for a complex and touching intra- and cross-cultural dialogue about identity, love, traditions and language. The question of (mis)understanding the Other is staged in a poetic, sensorial and intimate key, morphing by the end into a profound existential inquiry.
