CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPEAN COMPETITION

Exploring various and timely issues in Eastern and Central European countries - some truly tragic, such as the war in Ukraine or the hidden violence in Russian schools, others bringing to the fore the social injustice in small conservative community, where two women feel they have to keep their romantic relationship a secret, the films in the Central & Eastern Europe competition put the spotlight on tragic or never-seen-before issues, proposing exemplary stories and original, strong characters. Whether it's the siege of Mariupol or the nostalgic Stalinists in the Georgian town of Gori, the teenagers in Donbas or a middle-aged Hungarian couple winning at the lottery, these documentaries offer, as always, authentic and unique perspectives on the world and the century we live in.
