Thanks to technology, Valentin's presence in class, while at home undergoing medical treatment, is possible because he has a special robot programmed to help him.
Valentin, a 13-year-old boy from Potsdam, has been cured of cancer, but treatment to recover from the dreadful disease is keeping him out of school for a while. The boy doesn't give up school, but instead actively participates in all classes, takes notes, is listened to and takes notes, interacts in class with his teachers and peers. None of these remote activities would be possible without a reliable helper - the "Avatar", a little white robot equipped with a video camera and Internet connection, which says "present" from the boy's desk every morning for a week. However, there's one thing the little avatar can't do for Valentin: dream of becoming a reporter.
Recommendation: the film is also suitable for students in grades III-IV and German-language classes.
Recommended for developing resilience and for children with a passion for technology.
