How does a director cope with his parents' divorce, at the age at which he is starting his own family? He handles them as he knows best: constantly filming himself in the frame with his parents, his girlfriend, his own child. Filming and assuming all possible experiences.
On the occasion of his parents' 20th wedding anniversary, director Tudor Platon filmed them dancing and kissing. Nearly ten years after that moment, he learns that his parents are getting a divorce. This happens precisely during the period when he falls in love, starts a family, and welcomes his first child. The documentary "An Almost Perfect Family" explores the different forms parental love can take—whether experienced or inherited practices, often unexamined. Platon's observational camera captures the space of emotional reflection and healing through dialogues, and through long, silent shots, this space becomes almost tangible.
