Girl Away from Home – Kids on the Silk Road

Alisa Kovalenko, Simon Lereng Wilmont • Denmark, Norway • 2023 • 22 min
We see what a top sportswoman goes through before and after the start of the war in Ukraine, in a moving documentary about patience, performance, friendship and family in atypical conditions.
Nastia is a 13-year-old gymnast from Kiev. She trains hard with her friends and classmates and together they win the Ukrainian rhythmic gymnastics championship. But their joy is soon shattered by the outbreak of war and the break-up of the group. To protect her, her parents send Nastia to live with her grandmother in Germany for a while. Adapting is not easy, but when she is allowed to resume gymnastics in a German group, things begin to change.
Recommended for children who want to understand the consequences of armed conflict and the causes of exile.
Acest film este potrivit şi pentru elevii din clasele III-IV.
