Maia was part of a semi-nomadic population, the Aromanians, who have faced ethnic cleansing campaigns over time and are now located in countries such as Albania, Greece, or Romania. Her granddaughter, Alexandra Gulea, who bears her name, has created a vivid visual reconstruction of her journey through history.
