About DocStudent HUB at Astra Film Festival 2024
DocStudent HUB is a new training program for film students, developed by National University of Theatre and Film "I.L. Caragiale" in Bucharest and Astra Film Festival, and is going to continue through Erasmus+ (BIP), the well established, 3 decade long practices of Astra Film Festival to attract generations students to be introduced to the documentary film community.
Participants – both students and teachers – will have the opportunity to take part in workshops, masterclasses, and practical activities in the fields of art, production, and documentary film distribution.
The professional training will consist of participation in masterclasses:
- "Retelling stories: uses of archive in documentaries" by Ioana Grigore, Ana Vlad
- "Using sound design to enhance storytelling in nonfiction film" by Ștefan Rucăreanu
- "Collaborative anthropology in the digital age" by Michael Stewart
They will also participate as observers in the pitching sessions of the Doc
Tank industry program. The practical component of the program focuses on
exercising analysis, presentation, and public moderation skills, through
Q&A sessions after the screenings of the films from the DocSchool
competition section.
