AFF 2021 Student Acces

Consistent with the mission stated from the very beginning, namely educating, and promoting documentary film among young audiences, the Astra Film Festival launches this year a programme dedicated to undergraduates, master’s students, and PhD students from Romania and abroad, with the purpose of facilitating their access to the festival’s events. Students can purchase the #AFFSTUDENTPASS card, which gives them access to all film events, to events dedicated to industry professionals and to concerts at #AFF2021 (subject to availability), but also accommodation for 7 nights, between September 5th – 12th, in the centre of Sibiu, at the dormitories of the "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu.

WHAT IS THE #AFFSTUDENTPASS ?

#AFFSTUDENTPASS is an access card to the festival, dedicated to undergraduates, master’s students, and PhD students from all faculties in the country (but also from abroad) who wish to take part in the festival.

The #AFFSTUDENTPASS card includes:

  • Accommodation* for 7 nights (between September 5th -12th), at the dormitories of the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu;
  • Access to film events and concerts from #AFF2021 (subject to availability);
  • Access to events dedicated to industry professionals (subject to availability).

INFORMATION CONCERNING ACCOMMODATION AT THE STUDENT DORMITORIES OF THE “LUCIAN BLAGA UNIVERSITY IN SIBIU

The accommodation is at the student dormitories of the “Lucian Blaga” University of Sibiu, located in a central area, on Victoria Boulevard, no. 31. The rooms are located in Dormitory 1 and Dormitory 2 and are structured as follows:

  • Four-bed room with bathroom;
  • Apartment (2 rooms with 4 beds each) with bathroom.
  • Other facilities: refrigerator, shared kitchen, internet access

* By purchasing the #AFFSTUDENTPASS card, the buyer benefits from accommodation for one person (1 bed) at the student dormitories of the “Lucian Blaga” University in Sibiu, in rooms with 2/3/4 beds.

#AFF2021

This year's edition of the Astra Film Festival - The International Documentary Film Festival in Sibiu will take place between September 5th -12th and will bring together, as usual, professionals from Romania and abroad, but also individuals passionate about documentary film. #AFF2021 will take place in a hybrid format, with screenings in cinemas and outdoors, and some online events. In addition to the screenings of selected films in the various sections of the official programme, the festival organizes DocumentaryTank@ AFF, dedicated to professionals in the international film industry.

The 28th edition of Astra Film Festival - The International Documentary Film Festival in Sibiu celebrates life in all its diversity through the over 200 cinematographic events. Launched in 1993 as an innovative project in Central and Eastern Europe, Astra Film Festival stands out as an essential event in the European documentary film community, proving to be the most important festival of its kind in Romania, summing up a culture and a history of documentary cinema for decades.

Documentaries and Film Workshops for Children at Astra Film Junior 2024

Children and teenagers are once again invited to Astra Film Junior, Romania's most comprehensive documentary-based education project. Designed for three age groups (6+, 11+, and 15+), Astra Film Junior 2024 features screenings in traditional cinema halls and full-dome projections at the New Media Dome Cinema, followed by discussions led by professionals. It also includes a comic strip contest and creative workshops (for primary school, 6+), creative writing (for middle school, 11+), and film-making (for high school, 15+). Astra Film Junior will take place from October 21-27, 2024, coinciding with many schools' "Green Week" or "Alternative School" programs.
