Volunteers of all ages at Astra Film Festival

The Astra Film Festival opens registration for volunteers and accepts people of any age, the only condition being that the legal minimum age for voluntary activities is met (14 years old). Applications can be made between 4 June and 19 August by filling in a form available on the festival website: https://www.astrafilm.ro/voluntar/inscriere. This year's Astra Film Festival will take place in Sibiu from 20-27 October 2024.
"The flawless organization of the Astra Film Festival, one of the most important cultural events dedicated to documentary film in the world, would not be possible without the enthusiastic support of the more than 300 volunteers who, year after year, are part of the beautiful AFF team. We are aware that the best things can be done when the energy of youth joins hands with the experience of those who have lived through life, and we expect people of all ages, passionate about cinema and culture, to join us," said Dumitru Budrala, founding director of Astra Film Festival.

Candidates will be interviewed and those accepted will be assigned to one of eight departments according to their preferences and skills:

Info Point (central information and guidance point for BPP participants)

Guest (welcoming and guiding special guests, film-makers, directors, journalists, VIPs)

Logistics/Technical (preparation and management of venues before and after the festival)

Screening spaces and venues (coordinating access, updating public information boards, supporting Q&A sessions)

Public speaking (practicing public speaking on documentary film topics)

Crisis management and administrative support (ensuring the smooth running of each AFF event)

Subtitling (facilitating communication and understanding of film content for the festival's diverse audience)

Industry (part of AFF activities and networking events with documentary film professionals)

According to Astra Film Festival organizers, AFF volunteers, who are treated with respect during the festival, have the chance to expand their own horizons, meet new people, watch the best documentary films of the moment and "contribute to creating an open and friendly atmosphere where dialogue and diversity are encouraged and facilitate interaction between participants and filmmakers". For further questions, interested parties are invited to write to voluntari@astrafilm.ro.
